Instant Pot Haianese Chicken Rice for the win ✌️Didn’t realize it was pretty easy to make in the handy instant pot! The chicken turned out pretty tender and the rice was so flavorful. The homemade sauce was also very easy to make!

This was delicious! Had a craving for Hainanese chicken rice and it definitely hit the spot. My daughter said it tasted better than the restaurant! Will be making this again!

I don’t have a question but I’d never had this dish until later in life. But had had this made in an Instant Pot. Delish. But also there’s a chain restaurant in my area called bubble waffle that makes it and even tho they have an extensive menu, I always get the chicken and rice

OMG – made this for hubby and I last night and it was sooooooo yummy. Honestly, since we’re probably not going to Singapore together any time soon, so for now this is the next best thing 🙂 And the best part was I made a bit extra rice, so I had again for lunch today too!

Day 2 of 15 of the Chinese New Year celebration is known as 年初二 or 開年. It is the start of the new year. Married daughters return home with their husbands and children to visit their families.

I didn’t return home today since today is a workday and my parents live about an hour away with the Bay Area traffic, but I did cook dinner. The tender greens were done on the stove. I also was lazy and didn’t make any sauces, which I am kinda sad about because I love the ginger sauce. I will just dip some of the chicken into the premium soy sauce hehe

Although Hainanese make up only 5% of Singapore’s Chinese population (or so says Wikipedia), the cuisine of Hainan has a disproportionate influence in Singapore’s cuisine, with Hainanese chicken rice being one of several national dishes of Singapore.

My preferred style: roast chicken rice
Essential: I first taste the rice. If rice is tasty, the rest will likely be yummy.
Favourite chicken rice vendor: Leong Yeow (either of two locations in the Bugis area)

Although the Leong Yeow family are from Hong Kong, they make consistently outstanding chicken rice, and the char siew is always lovely. When I visit (as I have for 15 years now), the boss sees my face, smiles, and simply asks, “The usual?”. If I catch him at a quiet moment (which is rare), he sits down at the table with me, and we chat while I eat.
