Could you help how to render lard with cut-to-very-small-pieces but not ground pork back fat, WITHOUT ADDING ANY WATER for longer shelving time.

I tried put 1/2 cup water and render pig back fact with PRESSURE HIGH for one hour. Soon, IP beeped and showed “Burnt”, so I switched to low pressure, and natural release, but not much lard obtained and the fat became soft but remained still quite intact.

Thank you for your advice.

Gladys

Must NOT exceed 150 or else my Amazake won’t work. How best to do this?

I have a 6qt duo and an 8 qt duo. My 6qt does a wonderful job with saute, it gets super hot, I am having trouble with saute on my 8qt duo. It doesn’t get hot enough. I don’t have a adjust button and I don’t understand how to get it hotter. I understand that you push the saute twicw to get a lower temp but how do you get the hottest saute without the adjust button?

I’m wondering what your successes have been with stovetop steaming to the instant pot? I’d like to make seitan, which generally takes 30-60 minutes on the stove, what would you recommend I start the instant pot at?

Hi Maja,

thank you for your question.

The ON means it is still building up pressure. If you have a newer version of the DUO60, it will beep and show on the screen once the timer starts.

The pressure build-up time varies. It will usually take 8 – 20 minutes depending on how much ingredients are in the pot.

Hope you & yours stay safe & well during this unusual time.
Please take care,
Jacky

Does the timer count down start when the correct pressure is reached. If so, then when it is sitting there with the word “ON” showing does that mean it is still building up pressure? How will I know when the timer starts?
Is there a way to estimate how long the pressure build up will start, so I can plan the rest of the meal. Thanks for your effort for this site.

Hi Nancy,

You will have to use the manual function and cook the eggs for fewer minutes.

Roughly 4 minutes for 4 eggs.

Please take care
