Used the 3 qt IP pot inside 6 qt pot for final HP 35 mins NR 15 mins. Came out perfect! 😋5 stars

It’s difficult to determine how much liquid remains from soaking the mushrooms and dried shrimp. Should the rule of thumb for glutinous rice to liquid be 1:1 or ? Also to clarify, there is no need to pre-soak the rice, right? Because I cooked 300g rice using Manual High for 32min and rested but some kernels are still white in the center. So I’m not sure if I didn’t use enough liquid. Thanks for your help.

Hi Candice,

Ahh, I missed an entire sentence to my answer.

Using the 6 quart inner pot directly will work, but the burn error may happen if your Instant Pot is sensitive to the burn error.

The sticky rice texture will be softer as well due to being cooked directly in the inner pot.

Take care & have fun cooking

Hi Jacky,

Sorry, I don’t understand your response. My question was asking if I could use the regular IP 6qt pot instead of the pot in pot method to make the sticky rice.

Would the ratio of ingredients be the same, cooking time be the same? Would I need to adjust anything?

Thanks,
Candice

Hi Candice,

thank you for your question 🙂

If your Instant Pot is sensitive to the burn error, it can occur.

The sticky rice texture will be inconsistent, but it will still work.

Take care & have a great weekend!

Can I make the sticky rice without the pot in pot method? I have an IP Duo 6qt; can I just use the 6qt pot to make it?

Thanks,
Candice

Hi Bonnie,

thank you for your question 🙂

The smaller 3qt Instant Pot inner pot will work as an inner inner pot.

Take care & have fun cooking
