This is so much easier than soaking and stovetop cooking! I used to save making sticky rice for very special occasions but now that I have tried this much easier method, I think we will be eating it much more regularly! I only have one stainless bowl small enough to fit in my IP but sounds like from other users that an oven safe glass bowl would work to make a larger batch. The rice did not swell at all so I think I could squeeze one more cup of rice into the bowl I used. However two cups fed my five adults and five children with none to spare. Which is fine because sticky rice does not keep very well.5 stars

Sorry, I used regular cup measure for dry indredients. Didn’t weigh measurements. Good Luck.

Nancy, may I ask how many grams in a cup that you are referring to? I’ve noticed there is a big difference between US and AUS. Your method above can certainly make a big batch and this is what I am after. Thanks.

I preferred the texture of the rinsed rice. The unrinsed rice seemed slightly underdone, maybe because there was less water for it to absorb. Both versions were about equally sticky.

I don’t have a stainless steel bowl, so I used an oven safe glass bowl. That worked just fine. The natural pressure release on my 8 quart Instant Pot took about 10 minutes.5 stars

I did add an extra 12g of water, but it wasn’t mushy at all so there is a little leeway in the proportions.5 stars

Yes, it was rinsed first. Good Luck and Merry Christmas!
