I have never been a fan of “recipes” that call for canned soups, dry packets of seasonings as they have tooo much salt for my taste. THIS is a perfect, easy recipe that comes out tender and delicious! In addition, left overs are great fro soft tacos the next night! WIN!

In reply to Holly. Holly, I know this is late, but it may help someone else. I am used to subbing out dairy, and if it were me, I would try either a non-dairy sour cream, thinned out with another non dairy milk, or possibly just good thick coconut cream. Hope you ended up working something out.

Amy/Jackie – what dairy free alternative would be best instead of buttermilk? I know it needs to be thicker but I can’t think of what might work. I’m using ghee for the butter. Thank you!!!

Never would I imagine that beef and pepperoncinis would meld together in one of the best beef dishes ever, This has become my go-to dinner menu, I love it and it is so simple. Do NOT skip using some of the juice in the stock. Even better the next day
